Hugh McAulay
Hugh is a Managing Director of Highlander Law.
Hugh was born and raised in the Southern Highlands before completing undergraduate studies in Wollongong and further undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Canberra.
Initially working in the areas of property and estates law, Hugh commenced his legal career in Canberra. Hugh commenced work in a plaintiff personal injury firm, running complex workers compensation, public liability, motor vehicle, superannuation and medical negligence claims.
Hugh and Neville quickly developed a strong reputation for their caring approach and excellent legal services, especially in the areas of wills & estate planning, residential and commercial property law, leasing, and probate & estate administration.
In 2024 Hugh and Neville commenced trading as Highlander Law, wanting a clearer acknowledgement of their commitment and roots in the Southern Highlands region.
Hugh and his team appreciate the opportunity to assist people from all walks of life navigate the complex legal systems. He takes great satisfaction in clearly explaining the legal landscape facing his clients, and helping people reach goals such as buying a family home, making wise plans and establishing suitable documentation for the future, and entering into a new business venture. Hugh strives, as far as possible, to keep his clients informed, and make the process simple and stress-free.
Family life takes up much of Hugh’s time outside of work. He enjoys spending time with his wife and young children, especially camping and bushwalking. In recent years Hugh has taken up running, providing flexible exercise opportunities to fit around his busy life. He and his family are also actively involved with their local church in Bowral.

Neville Hesford
Neville is a Managing Director of Highlander Law.
After spending his childhood in the Southern Highlands region, Neville completed his legal studies in Canberra before working in a variety of legal fields over the following few years.
In 2015 Neville returned to the Southern Highlands with his family and reconnected with the local community in his work at Stacks Law Firm Bowral, and later at Our Lawyers in Mittagong.
When the opportunity arose, Neville with his long-time friend Hugh McAulay acquired a local Bowral law firm.
In 2024 Hugh and Neville commenced trading as Highlander Law, wanting a clearer acknowledgement of their commitment to the Southern Highlands region.
Experienced in commercial law, Neville has extensive experience in retirement village law, commercial leasing and has acted for a number of property developers, including on numerous vacant land subdivisions and staged strata projects.
Neville is an active member of the local legal and business community. Neville is the secretary and treasurer of the Berrima District Law Society and secretary of the Southern Tablelands Law Society. Neville is also on the board of Business Southern Highlands.
When not working, Neville enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Southern Highlands. He is involved in the local table tennis club and attends his local church.

Joshua Baglin
Josh is a solicitor at Highlander Law.
Early in his career Josh gained experience in personal injury law, including workers compensation and motor vehicle accident claims.
Josh has extensive experience in a number of legal areas, including probate and administration law, estate planning law, and the sale and purchase of residential property.
Josh is caring, thorough and meticulous, and enjoys untangling the complexities faced by his clients, and providing clear advice which allows them to effectively navigate their legal affairs.
Most of his free time is spent with his wife and three children. He enjoys casual cycling and jogging with them whenever possible.

Jemma performs a legal support role at Highlander Law.
Jemma is in her third year studying Law and Business at Western Sydney University.
Performing a diverse role in the Highlander Law team, Jemma works collaboratively with the team on legal drafting and document preparation.
